The 2004 Quodlibet Conference
10th-11th September 2004
King's Manor, University of York
Funded by grants from the Royal Historical Society and the White Rose Consortium
To commemorate the 1250th anniversary of the martyrdom of St Boniface (c.674-754) a two-day graduate conference will be held at the King's Manor, York, from 10th-11th September 2004. We hope to provide an occasion for a stimulating re-assessment of Boniface's achievements and contexts, with particular attention to how his distinctive and wide-ranging ecclesiastical career bridged eighth-century European cultures. Boniface's renowned activities indeed took him from Wessex to Frisia, Germany and Rome, and connected him with the papacy, the Anglo-Saxons and the Carolingians. * Battle scene
